Erica & Andrew — A Contemporary Countryside Wedding in Wiltshire

Erica and Andrew’s marquee at home in Wiltshire was a perfect blend of contemporary design, personal touches, and effortless English countryside style from start to finish.

Some weddings arrive fully formed in your imagination. Others, like Erica and Andrew’s, feel like they’ve been quietly waiting for the right moment, the right place, and the right people. For these two New Yorkers, the vision was clear: a modern, contemporary English countryside wedding that felt both effortless and immersive, set in the history-soaked grounds of a Wiltshire manor house.

Planning from afar

Erica works in fashion and approached her wedding with a meticulous, considered eye. The brief was modern, streamlined, and focused on design with personal touches that reflected both her and Andrew. Planning from NYC, we coordinated closely to bring her vision to life — a wedding that felt entirely contemporary, yet intimately rooted in the English countryside.

The Ceremony

A key part of the day was creating a bespoke ceremony space on the lawn of the family home. Chairs were arranged in a sweeping serpentine curve, drawing guests in and around the aisle. The aisle itself was a living installation: ethereal gypsophila meadows interspersed with breaks so guests could easily take their seats while still feeling fully immersed in the floral experience.

A friend played cello during the ceremony and drinks reception, adding an understated but profoundly personal soundtrack to the day. Every detail was considered — from the flow of the installation to the moments of quiet intimacy that made the ceremony feel completely theirs.

The Marquee

For the reception, we opted for a clear frame marquee, letting light flood in through the ceiling and side panels. By evening, it glittered with suspended magic: three large cloud installations made from gypsophila, meadow grass, and subtle contrasts of dried smoke bush and hydrangea hovered above the tables. The clouds were staggered, leaving the dance floor clear, while three grand chandeliers added structure and elegance to the space.

The long dining tables were designed to feel intimate yet communal, with groupings separated along the marquee. Crisp white linens were layered with draped muslin runners, printed table names, and personalized guest place cards. Low, blousy ikebana-style floral arrangements, combined with atmospheric tapered candles in ribbed glass holders, created a tactile, immersive dining experience. Each guest’s place was adorned with a small personal touch — a photo of them with Erica and Andrew — which brought warmth and personality to the table design.

Personal Moments

The day was full of meaningful surprises. Andrew’s niece and brother performed a heartfelt rendition of “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, creating a joyous singalong that had every guest standing on the dance floor. Instead of a traditional cake, Erica and Andrew shook margaritas together and poured their own margarita tower, signaling the start of an evening full of laughter, dancing, and choreographed first dance moves.

Erica’s fashion-forward sensibility was on full display: she changed into a bouncy, swishing jumpsuit for the evening — effortless, playful, and perfectly suited for dancing.

The Autumnal Feeling

Erica and Andrew’s Wiltshire wedding was a masterclass in balance: modern and on-trend, yet grounded in personal moments and the quiet drama of an English countryside setting. Every detail — from the serpentine ceremony layout to the cloud installations above the tables, the personal touches at each place setting, and the joy-filled performances — contributed to a day that was cool, stylish, and full of heart.

It was a wedding that reflected who they are: thoughtful, creative, and utterly themselves. A celebration that felt intentional in every detail, but effortless in its feeling.
